International Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Incremental Innovation

Ethics Policy

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The International Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Incremental Innovation (IJFAII) is dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards at every stage of the publication process. All individuals involved—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the following principles to ensure the integrity and credibility of scholarly work in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, and aquatic system innovation.

1. Duties of Authors

  1. Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit only original work. Any ideas, data, or text taken from other sources must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism in all forms—including self-plagiarism—is strictly prohibited and considered unethical.
  2. Multiple Submissions: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Such actions are deemed unethical and may result in disqualification from future submissions.
  3. Accuracy and Data Integrity: Authors must ensure their research data, especially relating to fisheries management, aquatic species studies, or marine ecosystem innovation, is accurate and honestly represented. Falsification or misrepresentation of data, including results of fieldwork, experiments, or statistical analysis, is strictly prohibited.

Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their research—such as funding from aquaculture firms, fisheries corporations, or affiliations with environmental organizations. Transparency is essential for maintaining trust.

2. Duties of Editors

  1. Fair Play: Editors must evaluate all manuscripts on the basis of academic and scientific merit alone, without bias based on race, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics of the authors.
  2. Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related correspondence. They may disclose information only to those directly involved in the publication process, such as reviewers and editorial staff.
  3. Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where there is a potential conflict of interest—financial, professional, or personal. In such cases, the manuscript will be reassigned to another qualified editor.

Ethical Oversight: Editors must ensure that all publishing and ethical guidelines are followed and must act promptly in cases of suspected research or publication misconduct.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  1. Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all manuscripts received for review as confidential documents. They must not share or discuss the manuscript with anyone outside the editorial process unless explicitly authorized by the editorial team.
  2. Objectivity: Peer reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Criticisms should be constructive, not personal. Reviewers should focus on the scientific merit, clarity, methodology, and relevance to fisheries and aquatic innovation.
  3. Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They must also report any significant similarity or overlap with other published or submitted manuscripts of which they are aware.

By adhering to these ethical standards, contributors help maintain the scientific integrity and trustworthiness of the International Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Incremental Innovation. We thank you for your commitment to responsible academic publishing.
