Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Duties of Editors
Fair Play and Editorial Independence

Editors at the International Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Incremental Innovation (IJFAII) evaluate submitted manuscripts solely based on academic merit—such as importance, originality, methodological soundness, clarity—and their relevance to the journal’s scope, specifically concerning fisheries and aquatic innovation. Editorial decisions are made without consideration of the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, religious belief, political ideology, or institutional affiliation. Editorial independence is preserved at all times; decisions are not influenced by government or external agencies. The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the entire editorial content and the timing of publication.

Confidentiality
Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. No information about a manuscript may be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher—as appropriate. Editors will ensure that confidentiality is maintained throughout the review process.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors and editorial board members will not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the authors’ written consent. Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships. In such cases, another editor will be assigned to handle the manuscript.

Publication Decisions
All manuscripts considered for publication undergo rigorous peer review by at least two reviewers with expertise in the field of fisheries and aquatic sciences. The Editor-in-Chief, guided by peer reviews and editorial policies, makes the final decision regarding publication, considering the manuscript’s importance, scientific validity, and ethical compliance.

Investigation of Ethical Concerns
Editors, in cooperation with the publisher, will act upon any ethical concerns raised about a submitted or published paper. All allegations of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken, including corrections, retractions, or statements of concern.

Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers assist editors in making informed publication decisions and may help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback. Peer review is central to scientific integrity and plays a vital role in advancing fisheries and aquatic innovation research.

Promptness
Reviewers who are unable to assess a manuscript within the requested time frame or who feel unqualified due to lack of expertise should notify the editorial office immediately and decline the invitation, so alternative reviewers can be assigned.

Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared or discussed with others except as authorized by the Editor-in-Chief.

Objectivity
Reviews should be objective, clear, and constructive. Reviewers should avoid personal criticism and instead focus on the scientific and technical aspects of the work, particularly as it relates to innovation in fisheries and aquatic systems.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and report any suspected plagiarism or duplication to the editors. They must ensure that statements or ideas from other works are appropriately referenced.

Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist. They should not use any unpublished material disclosed in the manuscript for their own benefit.

Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards

Authors must present their research accurately and objectively, with sufficient detail and references to allow replication. Manuscripts should emphasize their contribution to innovation in fisheries and aquatic sciences.

Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should ensure data accessibility for at least 10 years post-publication, unless legal or ethical constraints apply.

Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must submit only original work and cite all sources and influences appropriately. All forms of plagiarism are unethical and unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submissions
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Redundant publication is considered unethical unless prior agreement and citation of the original work are clearly stated.

Authorship Criteria
Only those who have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation should be listed as authors. Others who contributed in a lesser capacity should be acknowledged, with their permission.

Conflicts of Interest
All potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of submission. Authors should also disclose all sources of financial or institutional support for the research.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others is essential. Private information must not be used without permission, and confidential services (e.g., peer review or grant review) should not be cited without consent.

Hazards and Subjects
If research involves chemicals, organisms, or field procedures that pose risks, these must be clearly disclosed. Studies involving humans or animals must include ethics approval and informed consent statements.

Participation in Peer Review
Authors are expected to engage constructively in the peer review process and respond to editorial feedback in a timely and comprehensive manner.

Correction of Errors
If significant errors are found after publication, authors must inform the editors immediately and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

Duties of the Publisher
Ethical Oversight

The publisher of IJFAII is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity. In cases of suspected misconduct, the publisher will collaborate with the editorial board to investigate and, if necessary, issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern. The publisher ensures policies are in place to detect and prevent unethical behavior and does not condone any form of scientific misconduct.
